Hit the exit ramp rail :(

I was coming back from work , and i was taking the off ramp, to be honest i wasn't going fast either (30mph). and as I'm about to get on the gas , i realize my car is not turning properly , so i get on my brakes ( just installed stoptech pads that same morning) and try and correct the understeer, i think but not sure, I even try to gas it to oversteer. There was water and dirt/sand on the road and I'm guessing that my wheels had no traction, which caused the car not to respond to me turning. By the time I'm beginning to finally turn the way i was supposed t.o i end up hitting the rail, damaging the corner of my front bumper, the left fender and the corner of the rear bumper . I wasn't going fast enough for the car to understeer the way it did, there was no oversteer happening to the car at all. On top of the body damage, my steering wheel wont turn at all, which leads me to believe its a broken axle....But to look on the bright side, no one else was around, involved or hurt, except for my broken heart , and i was able to pull away from the road to not cause any traffic... Any advice on how i should go about this? pay out of pocket or get insurance involved? Will my rates go up for this? If so how bad?

I know, but the car wasn't turning, and i didn't want to hit the railing head on, so i tried slowing down, and correct it, but unfortunately by the time i finally regained traction and the car actually started to turn properly, i didn't have enough room to fix it.

Curious how long it'll take for my rates to go up based on the amount of people crashing this car...

wtf? Why do you even post that? Why would you hate on this guy, that just wrecked his baby? Could you imagine if you wrecked yours and people start coming to you, essentially saying that you are the reason their insurance rates are going to go up? That is a painful experience in the first place...

OP take it in to get the damage assessed and then make a decision of out of pocket over insurance. Your rates really shouldn't increase much if you choose to use your insurance, unless you happen to be an 18 year old male

Was just nervous is all.
No hating, unfortunately the stock prius tires don't grip well. A lot of people don't know this, had a friend who tried to drive in snow with them then started to freak out after he almost crashed. :/

That is where the fun begin, and the feeling of your car being fast....when you can not control it, it is FAST!!

Really, the other day i was driving 20 mph in the snow, and my car would keep on sledding instead of braking to a stop....i was like....oh god....please no one come toward me....the car is too fast....plz stop

These are the tires you are driving on, their score has actually dropped since i saved that pic. Mine were beyond terrible in the summer let alone winter, they were off the car by the first tank of gas. I do kinda feel bad for the guy that paid $300 ish for them on cl though.

Nothing is more important than appropriate tires for the conditions, they are a minor investment when you consider one insurance deductible and rate hike more than covers their cost let alone potentially avoiding injury to yourself or others.

Depends on what insurance you have. Some insurance companies have accident forgiveness. Truth is, it's not a lot of damage so even if your rates increase, it should in theory not be a lot more.

Given that you're 17.5 years old, you already have a high insurance rate.

Going to take a guess here and say its under the fathers name because of how much the quote was to be on the sons name.
