My hunter is almost 29 (I need those darn raid boots), titan is 30, warlock is 30.

rerolling would just mean I would need to spend 3 or 4 days leveling to 20 and then be 30 again.

Plus i want that super nice auto rifle from the intro. I deleted it on all my other toons

He says Overwatch sucks because it's not Titan. But Blizzard is know to scrap shitty games, and this isn't the first time they've done it. I don't know how he can come to the conclusion that the game would've been better how it was if it didn't hold up to their standards...

There are a ton of awesome single player games available by independent developers. One doesn't need to be a AAA publisher to make something great, and it seems like he's overlooked that completely.

I won't argue all that you've pointed out, but since this thread is about Destiny I will respond to that. In the first 20 minutes of playing Halo:CE the other day, I felt way more story line coming out of that 13 year old game than the 100+ hours I've spent on Destiny.

Look, I like Destiny and I want it to be a great franchise, but I do think he's making a very important point about the industry as a whole. Nothing wrong with evolving with the technology and I do love the fact that I can play with other people "online", that's actually what has kept me engaged with Destiny so far. However, I want an epic story! So far this game has fallen flat in that category and yes it's very ironic coming from the original developer of the Halo series, that game that basically spawned this genre. Maybe that's just what happens when big money gets involved. It's better to churn out more and more with less content? To me, the story is the content with this genre. Everything else is what supports the content.

A lot of the experience that makes multiplayer games fun is something that people also want to experience on their own terms in single player; I am such a gamer. The problem is that many of these games feel soley focused on multiplayer as the only option. I don't mean that I want to play CoD against bots, but some games I'd love to experience the world, the visuals, the overall experience with an interesting story that simply doesn't involve having to deal with other people. CoD is not for me anymore for many reasons, but it's just an example.

I vastly prefer single player over multiplayer, however if done right, I can thoroughly enjoy games where multiplayer is an optional part of the gameplay, such as when it's passive or cooperative. Destiny, Warframe, and Dark Souls are perfect examples. Competitive multiplayer is a little too frustrating a lot of the time for me, because some people take it way too seriously and simply dealing with other people online is sometimes a headache in and of itself. It can also be awesome, but it's frustrating when it's the only way to play a game.

Indie games are great and I support them, but I never find myself playing them for very long. I don't want to feel like the only option for great single player experiences in the future is indies.

I don't think the story in Destiny is anything exceptional, for what it's worth... for what actually is there. And I've read all of the grimoire cards. They're a good supplement, but it's going to take a while for it all to flesh out to approach anything being good.

Then again, I thought the story in Halo was pretty meh as well. Which was fine really, because Halo was predominantly a multiplayer game for everyone I played with as well. Get through the game on uberhard, find the skulls, etc. Then multiplayer. Forever. Sounds pretty similar to Destiny actually, haha.

Bioshock Infinite is worth a play through if you haven't, and if you have a PC or console that will play it, and want a FPS with a really good story.

When I think solely on multiplayer, it's pretty much dominated by FPS and MOBAs. Or MMOs, but a lot of people play single player and just like to have people around them.

I don't really have a preference either way, to be honest. I play what I like, and what I like isn't dictated by online, offline, single or multiplayer. I will say that in my recent play I find that playing with friends tends to be more satisfying than without. I played Borderlands a ton. The original, that is. And it was a fun game with awesome dialogue and humor. But if I was doing single player I got bored fairly quickly. Having a friend online alongside me improved the experience tenfold.

That's just my take on it though. And everyone else's opinion or experience will differ of course.

So they posted the weekly update early.
http://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekl...News?aid=12387
Voice chat coming to the game. You can do fireteam chat or strike team chat.

Iron Banner should be back soon with a lot of changes so gear and level will make a big difference.
Quote:
Power. Does. Matter! (no, really)
  • Only players Level 20 and above can lead a Fireteam
  • Players below Level 20 can accompany more powerful friends
  • Players within 3 Levels can be competitive with each other
  • Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage
    • Wear your best (highest rated) armor
    • Players out of your league will seem like a Boss
  • Your ATTACK rating affects how you inflict damage
    • Equip your best (highest rated) weapons
    • Lower-level players wielding fully-upgraded weapons should still be considered a very credible threat!

Claim victory to gain reputation.
  • Lord Saladin now has five ranks to obtain through victory
  • Your previous Iron Banner rank has been preserved
  • The Tempered buff is a twelve-hour boost in reputation gains
  • Activate Tempered later during the event to catch up faster

Acquire exclusive Iron Banner rewards.
  • Increase your Rank to unlock better gear
  • Reforge weapons to reset progression with new perks
  • Earn gauntlets and boots to move you closer to Level 30
  • See Lord Saladin for details!

Quitters never win.
  • Reputation gains are only awarded only to the winners
  • Defeat grants a token to be redeemed after a future win
  • You can carry up to five Iron Medallions at any time
  • Partial reputation gains are earned instantly upon victory

Strike while the Iron is hot.
  • Your reputation will be reset at the conclusion of this Iron Banner
  • Like any competitive activity, each new event is a chance to regain your standing
And they posted that those that are getting Dark Below also have this special surprise:

All this seems like good stuff, will be interesting to see just how much grinding/PVP you'll need to put into Iron Banner to get any decent rewards.

The chat is 100% needed, good place to start. Should be easy enough to make the Team Chat work in the Tower if the rest of it goes well.

THE LAST WORD!!!!!! My life is almost complete now, Xur really came through this week. Not a spectacular gun, at first glance I'm pretty sure my TDYK will outperform it, but holy fuck I feel like a bad ass using it.

So obviously you bought TLW lol! I didn't buy it cause at first glance it really didn't seem any better than my Red Hand IX. Am I wrong? Is it worth buying? I also need to do the weekly still so I can get the 9 coins...

BTW, did the Raid last night. Got all the way to Atheon and then one of the guys on our team kept getting booted. He got tired of it and logged off so we didn't finish. If you want to do run it from the Atheon point just let me know. Might try and see if anyone is doing it tonight. I only got shards last night, hoping I'd get something if I finish it.

You basically have to do hard mode now to even have a chance of getting any good loot like raid gear. As for TLW compared to your Red Hand don't worry about it. Outside of unique abilities, hand cannons deal so much damage they're about the same between legendary and exotic.

But most hand cannons aren't full auto, and you have to aim to get the most out of them. TLW has a ton of hip-fire bonus.

Good, but lacks the awesome twirl animation when drawn, and hammer firing.

Full auto as in auto rifle speeds? How would you even mange the recoil?

Only time I'd have to worry about TLW is Iron Banner so it doesn't bother me much.

Ugh so I'm torn. Kind of want it because I've really come to appreciate my Red Hand IX but not sure I would need 2 hand cannons unless I wanted to equip 2 characters. I really like my Patience and Time sniper so I'd probably have a hard time giving it up to equip a hand cannon when I already have a legendary one.
