Mine sounds the exact same, seems to be tension related I find.

When I first installed my kit the tension was far too loose and I was getting the grinding noise at idle or on initial take off. I've tightened since and the grinding noise has gone away but that noise you have is still present. Going to play with Gates App to dial it in

No boost leak or loosed hose, those where the first thing I checked. 3 freaking weekends already I wasted i trying to find the source of the noise. Removed bumper 3x already.

It's the back ground noise that goes up and down with the RPM. It's like our cricket's but much, much louder.

I attached the link for the sound clip. Noise BTW is gone when the belt broke the 2nd time. Noise is also present from 60 HZ all the way down to where I already have a belt slap.

Opnions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Now that you guys heared it, it's really freaking annoying driving around with that noise, specially when on stop light. It's also the last sound you hear after turning of the car.

Maybe search for "strange/weird Rotrex sound" or "broken Rotrex?" on YouTube there might be some comparison clips.

@KraftWerks could also say something like "As one of the top distributors of Rotrex, we know when one is failing and it does/doesn't sound like that."
That sounds like the crickets, but from what you've said it's most likely the blower. Mine sounded like a louder supercharger whine, and ended up keeping the boost from climbing.

I haven't heard back yet on the warranty claim, but I'm almost ready to just buy a replacement and get reimbursed later if the claim is approved. Lack of driving in this beautiful weather is killing me slowly.

is there any oil cooler that are compatible with the kit beside skunk2? I would love to be able to run a thermostatic oil cooler along a Koyo rad.

You can just buy their 'sandwich plate' and buy any cooler you would want. The main reason why its compatible is the extra height and its not as wide as some of the other sandwich plated adapters out there needed to clear bolt that gets in the way of the others.

It could be something simple, like links to the post for "Reducing belt noise", just like the link for clamping hoses so they don't pop off. We should make it easier for (new) owners to absorb some of the accumulated tribal knowledge, not force them to go through 150+ pages of mostly drivel just for the few good, relevant posts to whatever issue they're having. Searching through all that is tantamount to hazing.
agreed maybe @digital_assassin can add some links to the original post so all the important information can be indexed. I will soon test a few things at the track and get some datalogs, it's the track season again

pretty sure it will result in broken bits sooner though wether it be clutch, axles or whatever else since the car only gets driven for autox/track atm it currently sees nothing but abuse.

most of the time it still seems like the extra power wouldn't really be able to utilized fully, the c30 and stock pulley (93 oct) goes very well (for my uses) when you dig hard on it (wot in 2nd a lot for autox, wot 3rd-5th a lot on track). With 265 re71-r traction isn't a huge issue, but its far from impossible to lose it either.

ended up parked next to a worked over elise with a c38 among other mods this weekend at a test and tune using a very short configuration to the local autox venue.

he claimed to be in the low 2000lbs range and over 400 hp, far greter power to weight than the c30 and frs, let alone he was a solid 100 lbs less than my fat ass.

still put about 2 seconds on him on a 40 second course.
For auto-x and/or track use I think smaller pulley would be a better idea since the penalty of using a bigger blower is also bigger in the low-mid range torque, with the smaller pulley however we simply shift the power curve to the left without the added parasitic loss .. I will probably get the smaller pulley and test the distilled water method combined with the watter method and a custom spray for the intercooler and get before and after data and share them here..

@KraftWerks, I sent you guys an email about a broken belt.

PS has anyone bought that belt that was posted on the front page and worked with a c38? I have no high boost pulley. Just all the regular ones that came with the kit.

Welp time to get rid of my car. Loved the kit but the car doesn't get used much.

It was fun.
