the tS BRZ is a disappointment... mostly cosmetic mods and some suspension tweaks (which can be done cheaper via aftermarket products)... if they had bumped the power to 220-230hp and flattened the torque dip, that would have been a great selling point... i dunno why they could only squeeze 5hp more with upgraded pistons and a better tune...

Yes but take the engines of that era and apply today's emission control and mileage requirements to them and see what happens.

Comparing older tech and engines can be a slippery slope.

Hell my old 440 R/T made almost as much HP at idle as it did at WOT and the torque line was almost a flat line.

Much like this (only not so high of numbers since those would have been a pipe dream back then)

That's all the Ts was meant to be. We've known this for like 3 years now. For some reason, people still don't seem to get it. If you're disappointed, it's because you believed the clickbait articles on the web and allowed yourself to get your hopes up.

That's for the STI RA, not the BRZ Ts.

Furthermore, don't be surprised if the car actually ends up making more. The 2015 was still rated at 305, yet consistently made as much as 15whp more on dynos compared to 2012-2014 models, stock. Wouldn't be surprised if the RA is actually closer to 320hp and makes 5-10whp more stock.

Not sure they would ever have made any money on it since most guys looking for more power would not have been happy with the 20 or so it would have given them. Not to mention it would have cost way more than any aftermarket system.

I am old enough, I have 3 kids and I have a Forester as a DD .

Maybe you are confusing these wings with the stock STI wing. These are totally different and very expensive to manufacture. And by the way ... yes it is a 200PS car, but it is also light enough. Even the stock car has a weight to power ratio similar to some 280-350PS heavy sedans. My car has a few minor modifications and can keep up easily with a Cayenne S Diesel (385PS) on the autobahn.

i actually never followed the tS development as i'm new to the frs/brz platform... but with all the marketing efforts subaru is undertaking for minimal changes, i doubt it'll do much to boost brz sales or improve profits... heck, the cost for "developing" and marketing the tS would prob more than the revenue it'll bring in... from a business standpoint, it doesn't make sense.

while i understand the purist not wanting a turbo slapped on this platform, a little more power in NA form would not hurt

Agreed 100% but with all the emissions restrictions it would be hard but try to do something like the S2K's 2 liters and 240hp of NA goodness. I'd be stoked for 225hp or better w/ NA.

I don't think anyone expects them releasing this for profit reasons. It's essentially it's last hurrah to mark the end of the model run. From what's been told to me by a few insiders, a second gen is all but dead as much of the engineering team has moved away from what was suppose to be development of a second gen to other projects at this point.

It's really more a send off and SoA finally just saying hey we promised some form of a STi tuned version and now we can say we're not liars lol

Interesting, perhasp we'll only have a Toyota variant next time around and this time I might not even use the Boxer engine.

Given the fact the car gets uglier with each spy photo and is probably only going to be offered with a ZF 8 speed auto, I'd be totally content if they kill the "Supra"as well.

It's basically just going to be a hopped up 2 series with some toyota badges.

Nope. Don't see it. They exist or don't exist together. If Toyota did do their own thing it will not be remotely like what we have now. A new Celica perhaps?
