Basically one kind of software engineering that most people on my team don't know and don't have a desire to do for their careers.

My new manager told me yesterday we need to figure out a project for me to work on, and then he listed his top 3 priorities, and none of them fit what I want to do for my career engineering-wise, and the same for most teammates.

So..yeah, not great.
Now I'm curious what the "kind" of software engineering is that everyone is being asked to do, but that no one wants to do.

Most of us prefer back-end engineering. So dealing more with the data, streams, all that kind of stuff.

We're pretty much being asked/told to work on front-end and middle-end stuff. So web dev, UI, APIs.

It's a pretty big difference from what we know and want to work on.

Like typically companies have entirely separate front end, back end, ui engineering roles, which is what most people on my team were hired into or, at least, they accepted with the notion they'd be doing what they preferred.

Hahaha this is exactly the response I expected as a front-end engineer.

Maybe I can come work at your company and just tackle all the front-end stuff. I love it.

Haha we actually have a req for a front-end dev right now. I could forward your resume if you're interested, but we are in downtown SF if that's an issue for you.

We have a few front-end guys already actually, but the team changes recently caused us all to be lumped together basically.

You guys should ask for a pay raise if the things you guys are being forced to do wasn't part of your contract.

Eh, we don't have a contract kind of thing. It's mostly just a "we were hired to do X, not Y" kind of thing. More spoken than written down.

now, was that "RS" supposed to read as "arse" I actually wanted to get a personal plate that read "FAUXWD" but it was already taken. I originally had a stealth gray on order but with $3k mark-up, but passed on it after I found my nitrous blue with $1k below MSRP in NV. What do you think of the color? I really like how the gray is almost purplish in the sun light.

Just like when I had my first Yaris. I got asked questions about it as if it were either a "Prius," or a "Honda." smh
