2003/04 Toyota Matrix was probably one of the best designed cars of that time IMO. It was the first "Crossover" ever built and was a decently built car. It drove well minus some rattles in the hatch/cargo area, but besides that it was solid. Getting the XRS trim also scored you the Celica GT-S's 2ZZ-GE engine, firmer suspension and exhaust that was tweaked a little bit from the 1ZZ-FE variants.
The redesign in 09' was a shameful piece of crap imo, they destroyed everything the 03-08 Matrix was in terms of design and lost the meaning of "sporty" in 05 when they discontinued the 2ZZ-GE. And the Vibe was shit from day one. Ugly as sin. Best thing about it was the Toyota sourced motor lol. |

You said: "2003/04 Toyota Matrix was probably one of the best designed cars of that time IMO" then you're last paragraph says "And the Vibe was shit from day one. Ugly as sin. Best thing about it was the Toyota sourced motor lol." You do realise that if you stripped the body panels off the two cars they are exactly the same car underneath the sheet metal. Same dimensions, drivetrain, and running gear. Hell, the Vibe didn't even use DEXCOOL coolant it used/uses Toyota Red and later Pink and they're supposed to give you that if you go to a GM dealer with a Vibe. I met a very wise owner years ago that got GM incentives on a Vibe. He knew it was a Matrix underneath and didn't give a crap about the sheet metal and got some serious money taken off of it when he bought it. |

Just a side note, but isn't the Toyota Pink just a pre-diluted red at a 50/50 mix?

Only the redline used a honda engine. My buddy has one and his has the same 2.4L as my Ion Sport and they made a 2.2L and V6 that were GM. All trash btw.
