Sound deadening
Is 1000mil overboard for 100% coverage of the vehicle?

My understanding is you get a lot more value per $ and lb if you use it in specific locations. What those locations are will need somebody else to tell you.

100% coverage is overkill. Shoot for around 80%

I did a Dynamat treatment on my last Miata. Did doors, rear fenders and trunk area but not under front carpets. It didn't lower the decibel levels at highway speed, but did give the car an overall solider feeling, if that makes any sense. All my Miatas had hard tops which never came off, BTW.

Sound deadening lowers the resonant frequency of the substrate to which it's applied by absorbing sound energy, turning it into heat. It lowered the low-frequency boominess of my exhaust when applied in the spare wheel well, but did nothing for higher frequency road noise. The reason it makes the car feel more solid is likely because the sound made by rattling panels from bumps, suspension noise etc. are more greatly attenuated. If you think about holding a sheet of metal in your hand, it's going to flex the most in the middle between your hands. If you put sound deadener in this location, that will do 90% of the job. As others have you said, you absolutely do not need full coverage for a substantial outcome. |

Trying to make it luxury style. Already started my interior from black to white. Trying to do 100% white. And trying to have a very very very quiet ride. I plan on keeping this car. Plan on keeping and building the engine. Then when the time comes EV swapping it with 4 wd motors. Want it to be super luxurious and nice while keeping oem as possible. Then body will be made out of complete carbon fiber. Then I’ll slowly move the interior to white carbon fiber. Don’t want to spend 100k on a car already built would rather spend 40k on something I did without touching the motor. Then plan on spending 60k on the motor. Excluding the ev swap.

carbon is black by nature. and you can't do the entire car as carbon fiber due to the unibody structure. and even if you do it, your insurance is going to have something to say about modifying the structural integrity and crash-worthiness of the vehicle they carry the liability for.

Imagine being able to build an entire car out of carbon fiber for 40k
