If Toyota ever does a true MK2 I think you'll see more activity here. I mean at this point almost anything that needs to be said has been said. Still, I agree things seem to be moving to more social media type platforms, none of which I participate in nor have any interest in.

I still check in at FT86Club because I enjoy the conversation and reading what folks are doing with the platform, although I admittedly only check in every few days.

I go way back to BBS type forums (which is really what this is). I'm talking pre-Internet dialing directly into somebodies hosted computer type forums. No one was trying to monetize every click, it was genuine, true hobbyist conversations.
Lots of opinions and free time during covid. This was a great place to argue over stuff that seems ridiculous now, "are you vaccinated:" global warming graphs etc.

True, but it was way busier well before COVID. 2012 through 2016 were times when if you didn't check in every couple of hours you were going to be lost, or so it seemed.

It was fun to have people exploring the platform. An exciting time, before generally everything has been done to some degree. I am glad I lived through Solidsnake11's musings.. Not that people are done, but back then it was more about experimentation and exploration.

Seeing people push the transmission to the limits, companies working together to learn the best way to push lap times..

I've checked out the Facebook and Reddit pages as well as a few Instagram pages and the vibe just isn't the same. Granted I'm also in the Corolla Hatchback subreddit but it's just boring. Alas I'm getting to that "get off my porch" period in my life where I don't like change lol

When we bought our house in 1995 one of the things I loved about it was it has a wrap around porch on the front that is elevated since our basement opens to the front of the house.

I can now stand on my front porch, elevated to the second floor and yell at kids to "get off my lawn". I don't actually do it, but the thought that I could makes me smile.

Its a shame that the candy assed safe spacers who tried to censor differing opinions of covid and to a lesser degree climate change have disappeared from the forum. The discourse was entertaining.

On the Buick forums, not one single description on how to safely lift the Regal TourX onto jack stands 8 years after it is available. I should really make a post for that.

Lots of discussions on that with the LYRIQ, mostly making sure you use the right jack given her weight.

I would imagine their would be some stress on the chassis and possibly battery pack if the distribution wasn't correct. The xlr on the other hand is just an awful piece of shit to work on.

Yea, it has clear jack points but it also weighs almost 6K lbs in the AWD configuration.

3 tons is easy for an average lift. Distribution is key so if someone comes looking for a quick oil change for their f150 that has 1000 pounds of pavers in the bed, they gotta go somewhere else
