Let's make this a 4-way rumble and get Perrin in here.

Seriously though, I'd be interested in seeing an across the board comparison of all of the available tunes. Not sure if it'd fair to compare against Unichip as well (not really familiar with that so maybe it's not an apples to apples comparison) but hey, it's be great to see a comprehensive review just like the one done for the catback exhausts.

I think what we'll learn is that for the most part, they all provide similar levels of performance, but each will have its nuances that different people will be attracted to.

It would be good to see the numbers, but everyone should also keep in mind that with an ECU Tune, a large component of your "product" is the interaction with the tuner, and this interaction will likely happen over the course of months repeatedly as you run logs, email them back, and try new tweaks, and can extend into years, involve dynos, and multiple modifications if you plan on really modding your car up and keeping your tuner. To that end, the customer/tuner experience should also be considered, but this is not something you can get with hard numbers and is really up to each individual to decide what's important to them.

confirmed the email this morning i had no idea it was the same person since it was an email and not a pm to link his screen name. but as he stated conditions were not ideal for logs so we are still in the same boat as before. if he makes it to the dyno again i would just log while there fyi. the only update that was done was to the most recent file with the idle fixes for oil valve and the other service recalls nothing to the tune itself.

+1 FA20CLUB.

A while ago I had purchased a tune from them, but their ecutek cable supplier /vendor was refusing to ship them cables. Since I wasn't able to get a cable I was unable to complete flashing their tune. Tony was friendly, quick to respond and easy communicate with via phone and email.

Looking forward to seeing FA20CLUB's tune in a future comparison.

You can only reference Perrin if you talk like gmookher. Actually, Mods, can we get a gmookher font on here? It's kinda like a sarcasm font, but for rabid fanboyness of Perrin!

On a more serious note. Are we really having a d!ck measuring contest over a couple of HP? There isn't going to be one tune vendor that magically makes 10 hp over the rest. Go with who you're comfortable with and be happy. The OP's dyno proves my point. Both tunes made identical power. Drift Office just had a smidge of knock up top. I doubt he left it that way.

And Bob, chill out man. Nobody is weaponizing AIRAID against you. We all know they suck enough on their own (pun intended). Can't we all just get along?

Bob just because there is knock in your graph does not mean there isn't knock in Visconti's graph, do you remember me saying that Visconti is perfect? no.

Fact is the graph in post one has a nice little dip on yours at 6700 rpm and in this case his does not. Yes you are right that the green line in the other thread looks like knock too but that's not what we were comparing was it(you brought it up after). I agree that it doesnt look good as well.

As far as calling me out on "classic knock"(thanks for the props) yes even the stock tune shows knock while running the intake.

Bottom line the intake is indeed shit and im surprised anyone can get a clean pull on it. Just look at it in stock form, it runs so pig rich it loses mass amounts of power.

PS: i would love to see the logs, im nerdy like that

To preface this potentially controversial post, I have to say that I do not have any dealings with either John or Bob. I have no FRS/BRZ that I can ask either for any hookups. I'm just an old, really really old, car nerd that has been in the tuning industry at one point. The import tuning industry is remarkably small, a lot of people know each other, so it's sad to see anyone acting out.

That said, below are quotes for ALL of John's contribution to this thread. First he criticized Bob's work. Which is not an unfair point to make; that dip around 6700 is worrisome, right Bob? But the next thing John says is to insinuate Bob piggybacked on John's tune to create a better map. That is uncalled for in my humblest possible opinion. Bob then posted a long explanation for the dip around 6700rpm. John's reply to that is to call Bob a baby.

Really don't care what you do bob

It's easy to see for me who is acting immaturely. More knowledge can only be good for the community. Just because someone does things differently doesn't mean it's better. If John has something constructive to add to this thread, please do so. But name calling is far, far below a respectable vendor. For his part, Bob's use of the term "weaponized" probably does more to inflame than to inform.

It would be easy for me to take someone's tune pull it on the Dyno then spend however much time I need to make mine better...

I certainly wouldn't be posting my final run with a dip it in or rich A/FS.. But hey that's me.

At the end of the day if making two more whp with some knock and rich AF is how you want your car sent into the world.... Well then you know what you gotta do.

I'm not overly impressed with either dynosheets, just happy mine looks better.

That would be you wouldn't it? I however did no such thing. That was just my optimized stock intake flash, no massaging, as-is where is. I think the OP and I have stated this enough times. We only flashed the car, logged the runs.

Wait - I though you said you didn't care. Yet you're still here, still trying to push the issue?

Again, what makes you think he drove away with that tune that you saw? You're making alot of assumptions here.

BTW - I suppose when someone questions your work, you're just nice and courteous with them.

There isn't knock. To the everyday common eye looking at dyno sheets, it might appear to be so, but it isn't. I've highlighted 2 of the deficiencies of the intake that the OP had used, one of which would be to amplify the dip at that 6700 rpm range that exists even in the stock tune, which apparently no one has yet mentioned. I understand that you might have seen it as knock, but the great Visconti missing this? Then calling mine a knock?

Again, that's not the case in question was it? If someone like you would call that a knock, I would have explained that gingerly. Do you really think that I didn't catch that dip before I gave the OP the dyno graph? Did you not think that we didn't double check the logs and do more runs to confirm any issues?

Any self-respecting tuner wouldn't have allowed that chart to be published if it wasn't to show something else. I was aware of that the issue with that said intake as I did lots of tests before I published my findings, and I had hoped more people would have caught that aggravated 'dip' that was inherent to that intake.

Again, it's not knock. Look at the stock tune with the stock intake baseline run at 67000RPM.

Well, if you really understand this anomaly now like I do, then you wouldn't be calling that dip of mine knock now would you?

It's not like I didn't give him an opportunity to recant his comments.

Cheers!

Hmm.. well we were doing the earlier transactions using that email so I did try to link my forum name to my email, which is pretty much the same name Anyways all is good now, as I have the tune. I will log the tune for you when we do another dyno day!

And here I thought this place was going to get boring without Gem around!

All jokes aside - I welcome all of our tuners to use this as an open forum to discuss our cars. It will only help us consumers in the long run to get more information on their product as well as their service that goes with it.

For whenever the next shootout will be, which will be a real 3-way (I'd rather call it a Mexican standoff), the stock intake will be used (which I'm now DD'ing again).
