I'm not going to make any decisions until I actually drive the car. I am extremely excited about everything the car has to offer. From it being a lightweight car, to keyless entry and push start.

I put my pre-order in expecting to pay around 29k-31k. The first question I asked my dealer was, "is the deposit refundable?" and his answer was "Yes."

I have no obligations to buy this vehicle. If the test drive disappoints me, I will get a different car. As an added benefit, I am saving additional money towards a down payment on a new car. It's a win-win situation for individuals who are down with delayed gratification.

Your package price seems about right. Expect sticker on a limited to fall between 29k & 30k. I see a lot of cancelled pre orders since those with msrp deals are going to be paying what they thought were limited prices for the premium model.

Limited model is closing in on 370z territory which is a better all around sports car. Too bad it doesn't have back seats...
The BRZ P and FRS can compete to a point. Soon Pure Price on a FR-S won't be anywhere near MSRP either. Pure price has absolutely zero correlation to MSRP.

29-30 won't be MSRP for the BRZ Limited unless the only place Subaru wants Limiteds to be common is dealership lots. I love the car, but I highly doubt I love it that much. At that point I'd just keep my DD and either pick up some other not so practical car or do what I've wanted to do for awhile and buy a 60s muscle car to restore.

As for the 370, I seem to be the minority, but I have zero interest in them after driving them. They are not a drivers car IMO (except for the 350Z Nismo and to a lesser extent the 370Z Nismo). I want a drivers car.

This is a really good point given Subaru's track record on resale values. If I do decide to get this car, I will make sure I put enough money down so that I never end up upside down on the vehicle. This way I can opt-out for a different car a year down the road if something that I want more comes along.

I have seen a couple of articles suggesting electric turbos on 2014 wrx, 1.6T boxer on a brz STI. It is all speculation at this point! However, it is definitely something too keep in mind for future cars as long as I don't ever end up upside down and my credit stays stellar.

I've also always had a softspot for 1st gen F bodies and C3 vettes (my Father bought a 79 Vette when I was 2 so it's always the car I've remembered growing up).

Soo.. lots of choices

No matter what, if you are poor and the car isn't in warranty, it is a roll of the dice if something breaks... and then you are pretty much screwed. Compared to a Japanese car parts are expensive and if you can't do maintenance yourself then it is even worse. Even if they are reliable, they are still expensive to maintain over the long run.

People are talking about what you can actually get the car for now from a dealer. Check out truecar.com for your area. Plus Nissan has 0% for 60 months.

Agreed. Won't be many, if any FRS at MSRP. Add the market adjustment and all of the fancy dealer installed crap that they are bound to do and it will not be at MSRP.

Not sure what you mean. The WRX and STI are part of the VIP program. However they were not when they first came stateside. I was not looking at either of those cars when they first came out so someone else is better able to speak about the exact details. But I think they were on the VIP a few years after initial launch?

Some people make it look like they are doing things on the fly, figuring things out by the day. That is not the way building cars work. The price between models (BRZ FR-S) has ALREADY been decided, and Toyota and Subaru talked about it while agreeing on the project.
Haven't kept up with the news/rumors? There were rumors that Scion and Subaru were both waiting for each other to release pricing. Each one wanted to base their pricing off what the other set. With all the internal bickering up to this point it DOES NOT surprise me. Remember how Toyota showed the production version in Tokyo prior to Subaru? Remember how it was suppose to be revealed on the same day? There was an agreement, but that was broken. Remember the Subaru statement in reference to Toyota about how they did most of the engineering work? There has already been lots of tension between the two companies. I don't see any reason why that would not continue to now.

I think it all comes down to what you want the car for. I would've liked to have all the other options that the limited offered as I was gonna DD the car for a while. But if the price goes over my own personal threshold point, I would probably start looking at the FR-S. I personally was going to use the car a lot for autocrossing so the extra power from the 370z or other options isn't really enticing to me.

I may or may not be F5'ing that as well

Unfortunately they are usually 2 weeks behind on posting it after the publish date on the doc.

The car's resale value is independent of whether you put down a large cash deposit upfront or not. I would rather not have a bunch of my liquid cash tied up in a car that is depreciating. YMMV.

Those are great choices. What about something like a 240Z?

Which means I got shafter on my Legacy 2.5GT!! Bout a 2008 model at the end of 2009 for around $23K and had 20K miles on it. I guess I should've done for research and found a spec B. Oh well.

But like I said on other threads on this forum....if premium BRZ is above a base of a brand new WRX...then I'm going Scion. And if I can't get push to start button on the Scion...then I'm going Mini John Cooper Works
